Published Date: Monday, 31 March 2014

Following the TedQual accreditation by World Tourism Organisation (WTO) THEMIS foundation in 2003, EMU School of Tourism and Hospitality Management has successfully been granted the accreditation of FIBAA, one of the most prestigious accreditation institutions of Germany.

The Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) was founded in 1994 with the Bologna Process and became one of the first agencies to be accredited by the German Accreditation Council. Since 2002, the foundation has been officially carrying out its accreditation activities and has been entitled to award the Seal of the Accreditation Council for degree programmes.

The accreditation of degree programmes by FIBAA is an internationally-established quality assurance process in the higher education sector. It serves to maintain fundamental standards in terms of the contextual and structural design of educational offerings, to secure the comparability of various study offerings at national and international level, and to facilitate the international recognition of academic achievements and degrees.

EMU Tourism Faculty applied for FIBAA accreditation at the end of 2012 and following the submission of the official documents required by the accreditation board, the faculty went through the inspection of the relevant body at the end of 2013. Following the inspection, EMU Tourism Faculty has been granted FIBAA accreditation for a period of 5 years since March 2014.

The accreditation has proven the international standard and quality of the Tourism and Hospitality postgraduate programs of Eastern Mediterranean University, which will be a very strong reference for the current students and graduates in their prospective job applications.
