EMU Tourism Faculty Academic Staff Member Gains Success at the International Level

Eastern Mediterranean Tourism Faculty, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department academic staff member Chef Pınar Barut won a gold medal at the Sugarcraft, Cake Decorating and Baking Show, which took place in England between 6 and 8 November 2015.

The world renowned Sugarcraft, Cake Decorating and Baking Show hosted 1500 participants demonstrating their skills in different categories. Barut won a gold medal in the "Novelty Cake – Novel Design" category which hosted 35 entries. Formerly, Barut won a bronze medal at the Cake International Sugarcraft, Cake Decorating and Baking Show which took place in Birmingham in 2011. In 2012, her unique "Wedding Cake" brought Barut another bronze medal.

Barut won another bronze medal in 2012 at the Sugarcraft, Cake Decorating and Baking Show in the "Novelty Cake" category and a silver medal in the same category in another contest which took place in London. Barut is currently an academic staff member at Tourism Faculty.

EMU Tourism Faculty Acting Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated that in line with the demand from Culinary Arts Associate Program graduates, the Faculty established Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department in 2014-2015 Academic Year. Prof. Dr. Kılıç also added that they would like to launch Cake Baking program during the upcoming year.
