EMU Faculty of Tourism Hosts Tourism Specialists and Expert Chefs

As part of the 21st Tourism Week organized online by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Tourism Faculty, expert chefs came together with the students to share their experiences. First, on 21 May 2021, at 14:00, UK Park Plaza Pastry Chef Domenico Camporeale made a presentation on "Career as a Pastry Chef". In his presentation, Camporeale stated that he has 21 years of experience in the sector and said that his father had him work in a pastry shop when he was 10-11 years old and that he both went to school and worked as a child.

Mentioning that entering the sector at an early age played a major role in his current success, Camporeale said that 18 pastry chefs are working for him today and that this is a great responsibility. Adding that discipline is extremely important, Camporeale shared his experiences in the profession. Camporeale also stated that he would be pleased to hold a workshop at the EMU Tourism Faculty after the pandemic.

Pastry and Bakery Discussed

On the other hand, on 24 May 2021, at 12:30, EMU Gastronomy and Culinary Arts graduate Efe Gencay gave a talk about pastry and bread making. Gencay, who also works as a part-time lecturer at EMU, carries out individual pastry and bread consultancy. Mentioning where he worked and the difficulties he faced after graduating from EMU, Gencay provided advice to students who want to advance in the field of pastry and bread.

In addition, EMU Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program graduate Ladem Kandili, who works as a pastry chef de partie at Six by Nico Restaurant in London shared how she quickly went to London after graduation and shared her career progress with the participants. shared. Saying that nothing could prevent success after asking, Kandili answered the questions from the students.

Shared His Experiences

On 28 May, 2021, Chef Alain Hostert from Luxembourg met with the students. Alain Hostert works as an instructor-chef at the École d'Hôtellerie et de Tourisme du Luxembourg and is the Continental Director of Worldchefs for Central Europe. Providing information about his own work and experiences, Hostert stated that he worked in the royal palace especially in Luxembourg and cooked for the king and queen. He also stated that he cooked for famous names such as Tony Blair, Bill Clinton and Bill Gates, and that he is the organizer of the World Cup held every four years in Hostert Luxembourg. At the end of his presentation, Hostert promised that he would come to EMU to hold a workshop after the pandemic.
