EMU’s Traditional Tourism Days Hosted Colorful Events

17th Tourism Days organised by Eastern Mediterranean University Tourism Faculty in collaboration with the Tourism Club took place on 14 and 15 May 2015. During the 2-day event which took place under the United Nation’s theme for the Environment Day 'Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care', students highlighted the concept through different activities. Through the theme which stresses the fact that world resources are not unlimited, students highlighted the importance of resource efficiency and sustainable consumption and production.

During his opening address, EMU Tourism Faculty Acting Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated that students from over 40 countries are currently offered study opportunities within the faculty and through Tourism Days each of these cultures are promoted. Putting forth that education should not only be limited to classrooms, Prof. Dr. Kılıç stated that the faculty tries to create multicultural environments for students through various activities and introduces various organisations acting as a platform in bringing together the students and sectoral representatives. Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç added that more than 200 students undertook responsibilities within the framework of 17th Tourism Days, and through events as such, students are provided with the opportunity to convert theory into practice and, at the same time, to explore different cultural values. Prof. Dr. Kılıç stated that the faculty which currently offers study opportunities to 722 students through 7 programs boasts over 4000 graduates.

During the first day of the tourism days which took place at the front yard of EMU Tourism Faculty, students from different countries promoted their cultures through traditional clothes, local food and dance shows. The event also hosted DJ performances, live music shows and cultural dances.

The second day of the event hosted the traditional tourism picnic and environment day which took place at EMU Beach Club.
