Hossein Ghasemi Tangal Olya Becomes the First Graduate of EMU Tourism Management PhD Program

Offering advanced study opportunities under Eastern Mediterranean University Tourism Faculty, Tourism Management PhD program is living the pride of producing its first graduate named Hossein Ghasemi Tangal Olya, who chose EMU for his PhD studies after having completed his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Iran.
EMU Tourism Management PhD Program aims to provide high quality study opportunities to local and international students who have an interest towards academic and research fields. At the same time, the program has the mission of catering for the demand from state and private institutions for high quality workforce in the fields of planning, policy development and consulting. The program also aims to educate and prepare domestic and international students who are expected to make contributions to the tourism and hospitality management literature through high quality research outputs.
In his PhD study, Olya developed a 'Climate-based Recreation Management System in North Cyprus', where the climate is one of the most important tourism resources. Assessing the tourism climate risk, developing a recreation management system calendar, and designing a framework for operationalization of tourism weather insurance are three key contributions of Olya's work. Reducing environmental degradation, distribution of tourism benefits, promoting tourism marketing, proposing an adaptive approach towards climate change, and seasonality are the main implications of his study.
Olya highlighted Eastern Mediterranean University's importance as a world university providing high quality education at international standards. Stating that EMU also equips students with relevant career experience, Olya added that EMU has a multicultural profile enabling cultural interaction at all levels. Olya also expressed his pleasure regarding the volume of EMU's digital academic resources as well as the faculty members.
