Human Rights Week in EMU

Eastern Mediterranean University, Tourism Faculty is observing the Human Rights Week through a series of activities. Within the scope of the week, Eastern Mediterranean University Tourism Faculty hosted 30 students of tourism as part of the activities taking place betwen 10 and 17 December 2017.

 Human Rights Week in EMU

The said activities commenced at Kyrenia Independence Monument, where the students and academic staff members Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazenin Ruso and Turan Değirmencioğlu were present. At the said venue, students exhibited the posters they designed and received information about the history of the monument. Wearing t-shirts symbolising human rights, students of EMU managed to attract the attention of the locals within the area. Following a trip to Karmi Village, the participants also demonstrated their musical and dancing skills in front of the Atatürk Statue at Kyrenia Harbour. Named as “Flash Mob”, the said activity received great interest from Kyrenia locals.

Human Rights Week in EMU 

On Wednesday, 13 December 2017, Senior Researcher from PRIO Cyprus Center, Consultant Mete Hatay delivered a talk at EMU Tourism Faculty. Additionally, EMU Academic Staff Member Emmanuel Achiri delivered a speech to students who watched the famous movie on the life of Nelson Mandela and human rights “A Long Walk to Freedom”. EMU Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated  the Human Rights Week activities will continue along the week to highlight the honor and reputation of humanity.
