Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Tourism Faculty carried out another first by organizing a panel on the Slow Food Movement. The panel which took place at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall within the scope of the International Mediterranean Gastronomy festival attracted a significantly large audience.
The panel was moderated by Slow Food Halfeti Leader Nihat Özdil and took place with the contributions of Village COOP İzmir Executive Board President Neptün Soyer, Slow Food Lebanon Leader, Food Writer and Photographer Barbara Massaad, Slow Food Turkey Yağmur Böreği Leader Ayfer Yavi and Slow Food Galatya Leader, Investigative Writer and Entrepreneur Zekai Altan.
The opening speech of the panel was delivered by EMU Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, who thanked Slow Food Kemi Kebir (Büyükkonuk) Leader Gülay Komili who played a big part in inviting the speakers to the panel within the scope of the 2. International Gastronomy Festival in Büyükkonuk.
The speakers at the panel touched upon the importance of the Slow Food movement and leaving a better world for future generations with local goods grown from local seeds. At the end of the panel, the speakers were delivered gifts with traditional Cypriot Lefkara and seeds brought by Village COOP İzmir Executive Board President Neptün Soyer were handed-out to the audience.
