EMU Faculty of Tourism Organizes 7 December International Civil Aviation Day Event

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Tourism Faculty Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program organized an event on the occasion of 7 December – International Civil Aviation Day. The event was held on Tuesday, 7 December 2021 at 11:00 at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall. 

Hasan Kılıç

The opening speech of the event was delivered by EMU Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç who stated that various sectors have been seriously affected by the pandemic and added that people in these sectors will work with greater motivation and determination with the rise of aviation and tourism again starting from next year. Prof. Dr. Kılıç emphasized the importance of civil aviation in TRNC stating that we live in an island surrounded by the sea. Saying that EMU Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program aims to fulfill the intense need of qualified work force in the field of international aviation, Prof. Dr. Kılıç ended his speech by celebrating the civil aviation day of everyone who works in this sector.

Aykut Hocanın

EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın started his speech by thanking the EMU Tourism Faculty for organizing this important event. Providing information about EMU, Prof. Dr. Hocanın talked about international goals and stated that EMU is doing important work in education, research and community service. Talking about the pandemic process and measures at EMU, Prof. Dr. Hocanın added that the university has done the necessary work for a healthy face-to-face education process.

During the event, SunExpress Airlines Captain Pilot and Turkey's first female commercial airline pilot Captain Pilot F. Alev Hottin, Pegasus Airlines Cyprus Representative Zeki Ziya, TRNC Civil Aviation Department Manager Mustafa Sofi and Cyprus Turkish Travel Agencies Association President Orhan Tolun their experiences with the students. At the end of the panel, the students were happy to receive answers from experts in their fields by asking questions about their careers. Prof. Dr. Hocanın presented a plaque of appreciation to the panel participants as a souvenir. In addition, at the end of the event, High Honor and Honor certificates were presented to the students who were successful 2020 – 2021 Academic Year Spring Semester.
